Sneak peek into the new Banham building

Go Earlsfield was kindly invited to the official opening of the Banham Security building. Tucked into the light industrial zone between the station and the Wandle, the site is the new home for the formerly Vauxhall-based business.

I'll crib from their press release to get you the key facts:

Over 200 guests attended the event to see the phenomenal development, designed by award-winning architects Allies & Morrison. The building boasts over 50,000 square feet in space, a state of the art interior design plan built with a focus on sustainability, and the first of its kind, in-house 24-hour monitoring centre built with a unique fire and bullet resistant window. Guests were taken on a journey through Banham’s extraordinary history starting with the first ever Banham lock invented when the company was incorporated in the 1920’s all the way through to present-day high-tech wireless security systems.

It was a real privilege to get a chance to see inside a landmark development that maintains the light industrial link while injecting some architectural pizzazz. To link with the old Vauxhall building, they've included a railway-facing 'Banham' sign here too.

I was also pleased to hear they've taken an interest in building up the planting around the Wandle, and have even spotted a turtle hanging out on the riverbank. Inside the building were numerous links to the Banham family and the company's history.

Such a big new office is also a boost for the local economy. Quite apart from - hopefully - spending with local businesses, they've apparently already hired ten local people and are still growing. Banham are also investing in apprenticeships through their Edexcel approved education division, Banham Academy. The Academy, which has its own building onsite, will be opening its doors in January 2016 to provide young people with key skills and training within the security industry in order for them to apply for apprenticeships with Banham.

So a big welcome to Earlsfield to the Banham Group! We hope you'll like it as much as we do.
